‘Gossip Girl’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

You know you love them! Blake Lively, Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley went on to big things after Gossip Girl gave them their big breaks.

The CW teen drama ran for six seasons from September 2007 to December 2012. Fans became instantly obsessed with the lives of the elite youth of New York City, played by Lively (Serena van der Woodsen), Meester (Blair Waldorf), Badgley (Dan Humphrey), Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass), Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald) and Taylor Momsen (Jenny Humphrey).

After the series wrapped, the cast built thriving personal lives with fellow A-listers and starred in some of the most popular television shows and films in the entertainment industry. Despite their individual successes, talks of a revival never died down.

HBO Max ordered 10 episodes of a reboot in July 2019. The upcoming show is set to take place eight years after the events of the series finale and follow a new generation of New York City-dwelling private school students. However, diehard fans should not count on seeing the original cast in the series.

“We’ve reached out to all of them to let them know it was happening, and we would love for them to be involved if they want to be involved,” executive producer Josh Schwartz told reporters in July 2019. “But [we] certainly didn’t want to make it contingent upon their [participation]. They played those characters for six years, and if they felt like they were good with that, we wanted to respect that. But obviously, it would be great to see them again.”

Crawford, for one, seemed open to diving back into the world of the Upper East Side. “I would love to do the voice [of Gossip Girl],” he exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2019. “I wish they would ask me to do the voice of Gossip Girl this time around! That’s a great job. It’s a great gig. They didn’t ask me!”

While the main cast may not have plans to reprise their roles in the reboot, scroll down to see what they have been up to since the original series ended in 2012.

The actress turned her focus to the big screen, starring in The Age of Adaline, A Simple Favor, The Shallows and The Rhythm Section. In between gigs, she married her Green Lantern costar Ryan Reynolds in September 2012 (two years after her split from Badgley). The couple welcomed daughter James in December 2014, daughter Inez in September 2016 and a third daughter — whose name has not yet been revealed — in summer 2019.

Meester’s career has been wide-ranging in recent years. She appeared in sitcoms Single Parents and Making History, made her Broadway debut in Of Mice and Men in 2014 and released her first album, Heartstrings, in 2014. The actress wed her frequent costar Adam Brody in February 2014. They share daughter Arlo — born in August 2015 — and are expecting their second child together.

The actor once again drew in obsessed fans starring on You. He tied the knot with Domino Kirke in February 2017. The duo announced in February 2020 that they are expecting their first child together. Badgley is also a stepfather to the singer’s son, Cassius, from her previous relationship with musician Morgan O’Kane.

Westwick starred in Romeo & Juliet, Wicked City, Snatch and White Gold. In November 2017, amid the #MeToo movement, three women accused the actor of sexual assault, while a fourth woman came forward in March 2018. He denied the allegations at the time but later deleted his statements from social media. Us reported in July 2018 that he would not face rape charges due to insufficient evidence. Westwick was first linked to girlfriend Tamara Francesconi in October 2019.

Crawford has since appeared in Blood & Oil, The Boys and Casual. Us exclusively revealed in April 2019 that he was “dating around” following his split from girlfriend Rebecca Rittenhouse after three years together.

Momsen left acting behind after departing Gossip Girl in 2010. She instead focused on her music career as the frontwoman for The Pretty Reckless.

Szohr starred in Ted 2, Complications, Kingdom, Twin Peaks, Shameless and The Orville. She split from Westwick in 2010. Us confirmed in March 2019 that she is dating hockey player Brad Richardson.

Rutherford appeared on Reckless, Being Mary Jane, Quantico, Jane the Virgin, Gone, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists and Dynasty. She shares son Hermés and daughter Helena with ex-husband Daniel Giersch. Following a lengthy custody battle, Giersch, who lives in Monaco after having his visa revoked, was granted sole custody of their children in 2015; the actress, in turn, received visitation rights. Us exclusively revealed in September 2018 that Rutherford is dating screenwriter Chiswell “Chum” Langhorne.

Settle has since starred in Ouija, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Valentine. He announced the arrival of daughter Nalu with girlfriend Maria Alfonsin in August 2015. He is also the father of daughter Aven with ex-wife Naama Nativ.

Paolo left Gossip Girl in 2011 to star on Revenge. He also appeared on The Resident, Rush Hour and Swedish Dicks.

‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ season 8: Writers scrap all episodes to start again

Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8 is getting a do-over. This action follows in response to the current situation, police violence.

In the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests, Brooklyn Nine-Nine decided to make massive changes for its eighth season.

All eyes are on the show as fans wait for updates regarding season 8. Many are just curious as to how the police procedural comedy will move forward in light of the protests against police brutality. And now finally, there’s a semi-answer to the big question.

Starting all over again

In a virtual interview with cast member Terry Crews with Access Daily, he revealed that their show has been acknowledging the current situation.

In fact, showrunner Dan Goor has made a bold step in response to it. They have thrown out everything they’ve made so far for Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8 to start all over again.

“Our showrunner Dan Goor, they had four episodes all ready to go and they just threw them in the trash,” Crews told Access Daily. “We have to start over. Right now, we don’t know which direction it’s going to go in.”

Crews also shared that it was not a spur-of-the-moment decision. The cast and crew of the NBC show really made time to have candid conversations about racism and how the Black Lives Matters movement affects the future episodes.

In the end, they agreed to make some changes to their upcoming season 8 in order to make room for themes that will come out from the movement.

“We’ve had a lot of somber talks about it and deep conversations and we hope through this we’re going to make something that will be truly groundbreaking this year,” Crews said.

Moreover, the 51-year old star is hoping to use the platform they have and take advantage of it in the best possible way.

Tackling serious topics

Brooklyn Nine-Nine focuses on a group of police officers in New York City. It’s not like the other police procedural shows though as it covers the lighter side of police work.

It follows a comical format but it did previously tackle serious topics in the past. In season 4, the series showed Crews’ character get racially profiled by a white cop while off-duty in his own neighborhood.

This could mean that season 8 will address more of these issues in the hopes of educating and advocating what the movement is all about.

It’s not known for now how the starting from scratch will affect the arrival of Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8. Fans will have to stay tuned for future updates.

In an interview with the Deadline, Stranger Things’ creators Matt and Ross Duffer, also known as the Duffer Brothers, revealed that the preceding season has its own complete story. Matt further explained:

“Every time we go to a new season, we want it to have a different feel and a different tone.”

Moreover, the Duffer Brothers have admitted that they already know how the series is going to end. The helmers stated:

“We do have a general sense of where we’re going. We’ve known the ending of the show for quite a while. But we don’t want to keep churning it out.”

Sean Astin, Cary Elwes, and Paul Reiser previously rocked up Hawkins as guest stars. And it seems that there will be more iconic idols who will make an appearance in the forthcoming installment as well.

In the same interview, Matt Duffer divulged that they have some cool guest stars on board for season 4. He said:

“A couple of cool ones this year. It’s a really fun way to get to meet one of your icons. Write a part for them and see if they want to do it. “

The creators did not disclose who the “icons” were. However, the duo described the feeling of having them as amazing and surreal since they grew up watching them.
Stranger Things season 4 to tackle Hopper’s backstory

Stranger Things season 4 teaser revealed that Hopper is alive. However, details about how he will return have been scarce ever since. Luckily, David Harbour, who plays Hopper, recently unveiled some specifics about his character in the upcoming installment.

Harbour shared:

“I’m really excited to let people see these really deep colors in him. Now in Season 4 he is painted in a bit of a darker palette. He’s able to express some of these really deep things that we’ve hinted at with the boxes in Season 2.”

The star added on to say that the forthcoming season will be epic. According to him, there are monsters, horror, scares and above all, some great Indiana Jones-type action in season 4.

Lucifer season 5 announces Supernatural star in guest role

Lucifer season 5 has announced that Supernatural star Rob Benedict will feature in a guest role.

According to TVLine, the actor, who regularly pops up in Supernatural as God (aka Chuck Shurley), will appear in season 5 as Vincent Le Mec, "a hardened French Mercenary whose violent work brings him to Los Angeles - and into the crosshairs of Lucifer, Chloe and the LAPD".

Benedict's appearance in Lucifer, which was filmed just before the ongoing pandemic forced production to halt, will come in the 15th episode of the season.

The fifth season has now finally been confirmed to arrive on Netflix on August 21, despite some confusion caused by the streaming platform.

Previously, if you searched for the show on Netflix, the message "Season 5 Part 1 Coming 21 August" would appear on the preview menu. However, that message was later removed.

Since then, Netflix has cleared up any misunderstanding by officially announcing its release date with a 66.6-second video of the show's sexiest moments.

"News: Lucifer S5 Part 1 arrives on 21 August. Hell yes," the streaming service confirmed.

And that's not all.

While the first half of season 5 hasn't even been released yet, Netflix has already renewed Lucifer for a sixth – and final – season.

"The devil made us do it. #Lucifer will return for a sixth and final season. Like, FINAL final," read a tweet from the show's official Twitter account.

'The Boys' season 2: Is the release date announcement coming in July?

The Boys season 2 details remain to be vague until now. But some few hints here and there are making fans look forward to it.

Fans of the superhero web series continue to wait for the release date of The Boys season 2. Until now, there is still no word about it but avid followers of the show are sensing that it’s coming very soon.

Possible announcement

According to TV Insider, there’s a possibility that further details of The Boys season 2 will surface next month.

The speculation comes after cast member Anthony Starr gave a vague update on his Instagram account a week ago.

Starr, who plays as the Homelander in the series, posted some on-the-set photos. Along with it is a caption that says, “Guess what….season two comes out soon…”

Fans were quick to react to the post with many dropping questions of how soon it is going to be. Several also commented on how excited they are already for the new season’s arrival.

One user wrote, “This month? Next? Need some BOYS in my life!!”

As expected, Starr did not provide any further details but many are hoping for a July release. After all, season 1 dropped on July 26, 2019, with a total of eight episodes.

So if the show follows the same release date, an announcement may also be made sometime early next month. Nothing is confirmed yet so it’s best to take things with a grain of salt.

Episodes and cast

IMDB listed the series as having eight episodes. It’s possible that season 2 will have the same number of episodes as season 1.

But again, since there is no confirmation yet, fans will just have to wait to see if the show sticks to an eight-episode run.

As for the cast lineup, the main stars are expected to reprise their roles. Starr will still be joined by Jack Quaid as Hughie, Tomer Kapon as Frenchis, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk and Karen Fukuhara as The Female.

It’s also said that The Wolf of Wall Street star Aya Cash will be joining as a new character known as Stormfront.

Her character is revealed to be a new Supe who will threaten to kick off Homelander’s position as The Seven’s leader.

Aside from Cash, Timeless Goran Visnjic actor will also be a newbie in the show. He will play the role of Alistair Adana, a “charismatic and shadowy leader of a mysterious church.”

Claudia Doumit is also said to play as Victoria Neuman, “a young wunderkind congresswoman.”

Fans will have to stay tuned for more updates on The Boys season 2 soon.

‘Normal People’ cast set to return to release two specials from Comic Relief

Heads up to all Normal People fans. The stars and director of the series are returning to the small screen but not for a new season yet.

Normal People is an Irish drama series based on the novel of the same title by Sally Rooney.

Since it premiered on BBC One in April this year, it became a hit show and has even formed a solid fanbase along the way.

It only came with a total of 12 episodes and apparently, fans want more. But the question for a season 2 still remains unanswered especially since the series closed the way it did in the book.

Fans are left wondering about the future of Marianne and Connell for now. Fortunately, RTÉ Does Comic Relief wants to give fans a treat by bringing back Marianne and Connell.

Returning 40 years later

According to Digital Spy, Normal People cast members Paul Messy and Daisy Edgar-Jones are returning to the small screen to appear in two specials. Director Lenny Abrahamson is also said to take part in the episode specials.

Fans shouldn’t expect the episodes to pick up after the events of season 1 though. Instead of a continuation, it will be giving fans a glimpse into what Cornell and Marianne are up to decades later, about 40 years.

It will be airing on Friday, June 26 on RTÉ Does Comic Relief in Ireland. Co-founder Richard Curtis revealed some details about the specials.

“There’s a beautiful piece called Normal Older People, which is imagining what would have happened to Marianne and Connell 40 years from now,” he told RTÉ Radio 1. “I promise you, these are two very special bits.”

Moreover, he said that “it’s so much better than anything we’ve ever made.” He even gave a hint if a guest star in it and describes it as “really beautiful.”

“One of the things about Comic Relief is it just gives opportunities for things to happen that would never happen,” Curtis added. “I can’t imagine any context in which they would have allowed this little sort of extra-special into the world of Normal People.”

Fundraiser event

The specials featuring Messy and Edgar-Jones is part of RTÉ’s efforts to raise funds for the Irish charity sector.

It is in partnership with Comic Relief and they will be bringing together the best of Irish comedy and entertainment together.

As noted in The Community Foundation for Ireland, the money they raised through RTÉ Does Comic Relief will be used to support communities in Ireland in the recovery and rebuilding stage after the COVID-19 lockdown.
