This is probably the best news amid the coronavirus pandemic

At least three vaccine attempts have reached Phase 3 clinical trials in America and Europe. Which is the final stage of human testing for new medications.

This would allow officials in control of local COVID-19 management policies to initiate immunization protocols,
together with high-risk people likely to be the first to receive vaccines.

Healthcare workers and other frontline personnel who can be exposed to the virus,in addition to older people who are very likely to develop complications following disease, could be among the first to inoculate with the final versions of vaccines.

The public would then follow, with Dr Anthony Fauci having hinted in a timeline a couple of days back.

Wider-reaching vaccine programs could start in the united states sometime in early 2021.

However, those calculations are all predicated on the assumption that the vaccines which attained Phase 3 will confirm previous results in this essential testing stage.

The drugs will need to prove they can stop new coronavirus infections. And that they are still safe to use prior to the FDA and other regulators approve them.

This brings us into the best coronavirus news we have heard so far. Fauci has always been”cautiously optimistic”

about vaccine efficacy in his remarks.Warning that there’s no guarantee the drugs will do the job.

A couple of days ago, he said he expected that the Moderna vaccine could get an efficiency of at least 60%.

“We would love to see it much greater. However, 60 percent is the standard which you do for the cutoff. That is not uncommon,” he said.

A 60% efficacy means the vaccine could lower a person’s risk of contracting the disease by 60%.

However, the primary adviser to Operation Warp Speed is a lot more optimistic than Fauci.

Slaoui stated coronavirus vaccines could have efficacy rates”in the 90 percent” range, without singling out any of those experimental drugs that are in testing.

“I think it’s going to be a very effective vaccine. That is my prediction,” the exec said.

“My personal opinion based on my expertise along with the biology of this virus, I think this vaccine will be extremely efficient. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s at the 90% [range]”.

Coronavirus research updates: Vaccine candidate protects monkeys from infection

Hanneke Schuitemaker at Janssen Vaccines and Prevention in Leiden, the Netherlands, Dan Barouch at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, and their colleagues gave 32 rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) a single dose of one of 7 vaccines (N. B. Mercado et al. Nature http://doi.org/d5d4; 2020). Each vaccine comprised a weakened respiratory virus coding for one of seven forms of SARS-CoV-2’s spike protein.

After vaccination, nearly all the monkeys made neutralizing antibodies — powerful immune molecules that can block infection — and T cells that trigger other immune responses. When monkeys were exposed to SARS-CoV-2, the most potent of the vaccines prevented lung infection in six out of six animals that received it, and nasal infection in five out of six.

Across all the vaccinated monkeys, levels of neutralizing antibodies were associated with protection from SARS-CoV-2 infection, but levels of T cells were not.

Melania Trump Announces Rose Garden Rennovation Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

First Lady Melania Trump announced on Monday that she is going to take on renovating the White House Rose Garden, located by the Oval Office on the West Wing. Melania plans for the garden to look more like the original that was built under former President John F. Kennedy.

Melania gave a statement, “The very act of planting a garden involves hard work and hope in the possibility of a bright future. Preserving the history and beauty of the White House and its grounds is a testament to our nation’s commitment to the care of this landscape and our dedication to American ideals, safeguarding them for our children and their children for generations to come.”

She tweeted, “Even in the most difficult times, the @WhiteHouse Rose Garden has stood as a symbol of strength & continuity. Today, it is my pleasure to announce our plans to renew & restore this iconic space so that we preserve its history & beauty for generations to come.”

President Donald Trump had been frequently using the Rose Garden as a space to hold press conferences outdoors during the coronavirus pandemic, as the virus is less likely to spread outside. Renovations made to the garden would require forfeiting use of the space.

Usually renovations to the White House are made in August when the first family goes on vacation. In both August 2017 and 2018 renovations were made by the Trump family while they stated in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Many have been critical of Melania’s decision to proceed with renovations during the coronavirus pandemic.

One Twitter user wrote, “In order to mitigate the suffering caused by COVID-19 and ensure that states have all the PPE & testing/tracing elements they so desperately need, Melania Trump will be revamping the Rose Garden and Trump will be golfing and tweeting.”

Another said, “With Nearly 150,000 dead from coronavirus, 18 Million unemployed, and unemployment benefits ending, Melania will revamp the Rose Garden as her husband does nothing to alleviate the pain and suffering.”

Disney Land Shut Down Again Due To Coronavirus Surge

Disneyland (Hong Kong) is going to be closed again, and it’s not been a month since it reopened after the lockdown. This step has been taken, keeping in mind the resurging coronavirus cases, as the city clamps down. It will be beneficial in breaking the spiral of uncontrollable cases. According to reports, Hong Kong officials have also ordered to shut gyms and bars for a week, and strict limits have been restored to the public gatherings. Also, fines are introduced and will be imposed on those who don’t follow the rules and refuses to wear masks in public transit.

The tougher measures that are taken to be made effective from Wednesday include severe limitations in the number of people gathering in public to four, as announced by Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the City on Monday. The limit was previously raised to 50 in the mid of June. Also, the eighth death due to coronavirus has been confirmed by the city.

Among all the other measures that have been taken as the preventive steps include all the inbound travelers that have to pass a coronavirus test before arriving in the city. All the restaurants will be allowed to offer the only takeout that too from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Also, the number of patrons at a table is limited to four. Gyms, Amusement parks, and the other ten types of venues are ordered to remain shut for a week. Lam also stated that the civil servants would be provided with flexibilities on working hours, and he also urged companies to let the employees work from home.

Disneyland opened on June 18, and it will again be locked from the coming Wednesday. We hope things get better soon and it opens up again. After all these months of boredom, we do deserve a trip to Disneyland!
