The One Piece

One Piece is a manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine on July 19, 1997. The story follows the adventures of a young boy named Monkey D. Luffy, who gains the ability to stretch his body like rubber after eating a Devil Fruit. He sets out on a journey to find the legendary "One Piece," a treasure said to be worth more than all the wealth in the world, and to become the Pirate King. The series quickly gained popularity and has been a mainstay in Weekly Shōnen Jump ever since. It has been collected into over 90 tankōbon volumes as of 2021, and has sold over 400 million copies worldwide. One Piece has received widespread critical acclaim, with praise for its storytelling, characters, humor, and art. It has been adapted into an anime series, several feature films, video games and other media. In 1999, One Piece received the Shogakukan Manga Award for children's manga, and in 2001, it was nominated for the 41st Annual Shogakukan Manga Award. The series has also won the Annual Shōnen Jump Award and the Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize for its impact on manga and pop culture.
