Hisashi Kinoshita

Hisashi Kinoshita is a 2nd year in Class 2 at Karasuno High. He is one of the volleyball team's wing spikers. Hisashi has short spiky hair that's light brown in color, and cat-like eyes. He is average in height, but compared with the other second-year players he is the shortest aside from Nishinoya. He's very supportive of his team.

Even though he isn't a regular, he's always seen cheering Karasuno on. It seems he's not afraid to make sly remarks about his teammates such as telling Tanaka, "Don't take off your shirt, baldyPrior to the events in Haikyuu, Hisashi leaves the volleyball team, together with Ennoshita and Narita as they are unable to keep up with Ukai Sr.'s harsh training methods.  They come back after they hear about Ukai Sr.'s hospitalization and regret their decision, starting to call themselves "The Ungrateful Second Years."

During the Golden Week, it is revealed that he left the volleyball club for a short period of time due to Ikkei Ukai's harsh training methods. He, along with the rest of the team, takes part in a series of training camp with Nekoma High, Ubugawa High, Shinzen High, and Fukurōdani Academy. It is noted that he's part of Team B, He seems to be a good overall player during practice matches. He makes a good effort when digging for the ball. By the time of Spring Nationals, he will be a pinch server that can perform jump float serves alongside Yamaguchi. He appears to be good friends with Ennoshita and Narita and is often seen with them during practice or games.

Chikara Ennoshita

Chikara Ennoshita is a 2nd year at Karasuno High. He is one of the team's wing spikers. Ennoshita is an average-looking guy, with slightly downturned eyes causing him to have a somewhat sleepy look on his face. He has medium dark brown hair, kept parted near the middle, his eyebrows and eyes being the same colour. He often doesn't attract much attention and often goes unmentioned even when he's on court. He seems quiet and reserved but can behave boldly towards the other 2nd years. He's smart and hasn't received a failing mark before. Similarly to Sugawara, he can usually be seen with a gentle smile on his face.

He's the only one within the 2nd years to be able to control Tanaka and Nishinoya. He's also able to understand and relate to different people, as stated a few times by Tanaka and when he knew what to do to give Yamaguchi some courage before his jump float serve. He also became super-critical of his failures early in his apperance as an injury replacement for Daichi, where he had three spikes going out of bounds, even when his late saves helped Karasuno to a win over Wakutani. Prior to the events in Haikyuu, Ennoshita leaves the volleyball team, together with Kinoshita and Narita as they are unable to keep up with Ikkei Ukai's harsh training methods.  They come back after they hear about Ukai Sr.'s hospitalization and regret their decision, starting to call themselves "The Ungrateful Second Years". His regular position on the team is taken by Tanaka and Asahi. He can be seen cheering from the bench during games. He appeared briefly as a regular until Asahi came back and took his spot. For a while, he stood on the sidelines cheering the team on in official matches with the other benched players, having never missed a game despite not playing.

In chapter 119 after Daichi collided and had to be taken out, Ennoshita took his spot. He helped encourage Tanaka, who felt guilty about colliding with Daichi. Later in the same match, when Ukai went to yell at Yamaguchi, Ennoshita built up the courage and stepped in front of him, most likely avoiding a bad lecture for Yamaguchi. During the chapter, he misses the ball multiple times, but rather than cave into dismay, he's inspired by his teammates to be a better player. When the match ends with the team winning, instead of being elated, he realizes he's bitter about not being able to play more or being good enough compared to his teammates. Ennoshita's fundamentals all seem pretty much intermediate, as commented by Iwaizumi, his playing style isn't that bad, but wasn't that outstanding overall, he is predominantly a left-wing spiker, and rather poor on the right side. No ability in particular stands out, but is level headed and smart during in games, despite his game sense in volleyball being much lower than Sugawara and Daichi. This was showcased as he was able to deduce Takeru's plan of using his blockouts every time he goes up against blockers, each time he attempts to spike the ball. Even though he is a bench player, his smart thinking in games is what got him voted to be the next captain for the whole team next year, by the time the current third years graduate and leave for university.

Ryūnosuke Tanaka

Ryūnosuke Tanaka is a 2nd year student at Karasuno High school. He is a wing spiker on Karasuno High Boy's Volleyball Club. Tanaka has a shaved head with a widow's peak and sharp blue/grey eyes (golden brown in the manga coloured illustrations) which lead many to mistake him as a delinquent. He is also average in height and has a lean build. He tends to make strange faces to try to scare and intimidate others, which Daichi scolds him for.

Loud, hot-headed, and easily angered, he is no stranger to picking fights. He is also somewhat of a slacker, shown by his less-than-stellar work ethic in school and his usual lateness to practices. Despite all this, he is shown to be caring and supportive towards his teammates, and even protective of his underclassmen. Once he gets fired up, he is usually unstoppable on the court–and also unstoppably loud, as demonstrated by his over-the-top cheering after he scores or pulls off an incredible move. He also has the tendency to take off his shirt and spin it over his head when he scores a point in practices. Tanaka also has a large interest in Kiyoko Shimizu, similar to Yū Nishinoya. He often approaches her and tries to talk to her.

Even though he is usually being ignored by her, it turns him on. And thus, he usually looks out for her alongside Nishinoya, especially during the Tokyo training camp and official matches when the other teams take an interest in her. He is a player that never gives up on the ball. According to Keishin Ukai, Tanaka is the second strongest spiker in Karasuno (Asahi being the first) and most importantly, his ability to perform when he's cornered doesn't deteriorate. This mental strength gives him the qualities of an ace. According to Oikawa, he has incredible mental fortitude during games. After the Summer Training Camp Arc, Tanaka seemed to have improved the ferocity of his cross & straight spikes. By Nationals, Tanaka will have learned to perform a legitimate jump serve that can pressure his opponents.

Yū Nishinoya

Yū Nishinoya is a second year student at Karasuno High School. He serves as the libero for his school's volleyball team, and is regarded by his teammates as "Karasuno's Guardian Deity". Nishinoya is the shortest member on the team, standing at 159.3 cm (now at 160.5 cm as of chapter 207). Despite his small stature, he has a fairly muscular build. He regularly styles his wild hair by ruffling most of it upwards, adding 10 cm to his height; the tiny tuft of hair that falls over his forehead appears to be bleached a dirty blond. His eyes are brown and slanted.

He tends to wear brightly colored shirts that typically have a random phrase printed on either its front or back, such as "One-Man Army" or "Three-Point Headstand". Nishinoya is a very energetic and temperamental person. His boisterous nature and crazy shenanigans can attract unwanted attention quite easily, which often goes badly for him. Although he hardly ever worries about the consequences of his actions (and may even revert to violence in order to vent out his anger on certain occasions), he is surprisingly considerate of his friends' feelings and insecurities. He has a quirky habit of spontaneously coming up with ridiculous names for the moves he executes while practicing receives. He is also unexpectedly shy when it comes to talking to girls he hasn't met before. Like Tanaka, Noya has a large interest in Kiyoko Shimizu.

Together, they try to approach her, but are ultimately ignored. They cause a bit of a ruckus when this happens and are usually scolded by somebody, usually Daichi. When the show officially introduces Noya in the eighth episode, he energetically approaches Kiyoko, which results in an off-screen slap. Noya returns with a red cheek and a smile. Noya can be extremely impatient, excitable and impulsive. As Tanaka puts it, "he simply gets too fired up for his own good". He doesn't bother to filter his words, and is therefore prone to blurting out whatever he's thinking in a loud and tactless manner. In-game, however, his attitude changes drastically: he becomes incredibly focused and serious, remaining calm and doing everything in his power to provide the support his team needs until the very end. For this reason, everyone in the volleyball club respects him greatly. Nishinoya's skills in defense are said to be unparalleled. The level of proficiency he demonstrates in his position as a libero has caused his captain to refer to him as a "guardian deity", and his skills were also acknowledged by Nekoma's libero, Yaku. He has supremely fast reflexes, swift feet and flexible arms. He can receive volleys that most teams would usually deem impossible, and keep the ball in play and connected. One of his techniques, "Rolling Thunder", is based on him performing a somersault. Nishinoya is good at acting on the spur of the moment, adapting to the flow of the game as it is required. This turned out to be a vital asset to Karasuno in their revenge game against the famed "Iron Wall", wherein Noya made the split-second decision of using his foot in order to prevent the ball from hitting the ground, since he knew he could not reach it with his hands in time. That move alone earned him the immediate astonishment and heartfelt praise of the entire stadium, including several volleyball veterans, a number of players from rival teams, and even his normally critical coach.  After Karasuno's second match against Aobajōsai, Nishinoya came to the conclusion that he had to learn skills other than receives if he truly wanted to be of better use to his team, and began practicing throws (also known as "overhand tosses") with Sugawara. He is shown to be having difficulty with them, but nevertheless refuses to give up. As a result of the Summer Camp Training, he is now capable of jumping from behind the attack line and performing a libero toss, which he performed against Aobajōsai in the third match together, setting up Asahi for a spike.

Asahi Azumane

Asahi Azumane is a 3rd year student in Class 3 from Karasuno High; he is one of the boys' volleyball club's wing spikers and its ace. He has long hair which is usually styled as a bun behind his head and dark brown eyes matching his hair as well as his eyebrows. He also appears to be growing a short scruff on his chin, his overall appearance makes him look way beyond his age yet slightly unapproachable.

In Season 2, he is shown no longer wearing his hair in a bun, but swept backwards with a sports hairband. In contrast to his appearance, he is rather quiet and gentle, and has difficulties realizing that he is Karasuno's ace, as he initially doesn't feel that way. He shows to be weak-willed at the beginning when he leaves the team before the first years come, feeling that he let down his entire team when they lost against Date Tech High even though they counted on him.  After coming back to Karasuno, he realizes that his will to play volleyball is much stronger than he thought, and with the help of his teammates, he acknowledges his position as Karasuno's ace (even though he is still mocked sometimes by Daichi for not having any "ace-like presence") and gains self-confidence.

Asahi is said to have a "Glass Heart", taking everything that is said about him to heart, and becoming depressed because of it at times. While he still feels insecure about a lot of things and seems to be quite a scaredy-cat, he clearly states that he has no intention of letting anyone take his ace position away from him in later chapters, showing his development from the beginning.  Asahi is the most powerful attacker in Karasuno. He is known for a strong spike that can blast past most defenders. His best spike is when he's given a high toss that is slightly away from the net. After their battle against Nekoma, Asahi learned how to do a back row attack. As a result of the Summer Training Camp Arc, Asahi learned to perform a jump serve. His receives also became more solid than during the Interhigh match against Seijoh.

Kōshi Sugawara

Kōshi Sugawara is a third year at Karasuno High School; he is a setter in the Karasuno High Boys' Volleyball Club. Sugawara is shown to be average in height with a slender build. He has light grey hair and hazel, brown eyes with a birthmark or a mole under his left eye. He is usually seen with a gentle smile on his face. Being the vice captain, he has a soothing and gentle personality for his teammates and acts as a pillar of support for them. Even though he isn't Karasuno's official setter anymore, he doesn't dream of giving up on playing in general.

As such, he encourages himself and all of his teammates not to give up, no matter how rough the situation might be. Sugawara's dedication to volleyball is clear when he decides to continue club activities even when most third years choose to retire to focus on their futures. In a meeting, his teacher asked Sugawara why he's so determined to continue playing even though he's not a starting member, and Sugawara replied that he doesn't want to have regrets in the future. He is also quite perceptive as he noticed how Tanaka asked for the key to the gym (back during the first years's 3-on-3 match) even though he always comes in late. He is also intelligent as he can come up with helpful tactics during games that his team members can use. An example of this is when he came up with the idea of saying "bring it" and "send it to me" for Kageyama and Hinata's combo. Suga also came up with the hand signals over night while his teammates were sleeping.

While on the sidelines, Sugawara pays close attention to the way the other team plays, often able to give his teammates advice on how to beat the other team. On the off-chance that Sugawara is put in the game, he can carry over what he learned from watching on the sidelines in order to rally the team and score a few points. However, he quickly gets stressed out by the heat of the game and starts to over-think things too much. Because Sugawara rarely plays in official matches, he's an unknown element. When he is called into games, the other teams, who may have had time to study up on the usual starting line up, don't typically know what to expect from Sugawara, thus working to Karasuno's advantage. Since the summer training camp arc, Sugawara has been mostly responsible for the team's synchronized attacks. He also practiced spiking during that time and now uses that to confuse opponents in matches. During the Karasuno's Spring High match against Aobajōsai, Sugawara showed off two new strategies. The first was acting as a pinch server in order to force Kentarō Kyōtani into receiving the serve from the front line, thus slowing him down and making him unable to spike. The second was Calculated One-Point Two-Setter - a synchro attack with Sugawara as the setter and Kageyama as a spiker, giving Karasuno five (as opposed to four) available spikers.

Daichi Sawamura

Daichi Sawamura  is a third year at Karasuno High School; he is the captain of the Karasuno High volleyball club, holding the position of wing spiker. He was the acting coach during the time that Karasuno did not have an official coach.

He has short dark hair and dark brown eyes. Daichi has a large build, and many people have stated that his appearance gives off his captain status right away. Daichi usually has a gentle smile on his face but when he gets angry, his eyes glaze over.  Daichi is a very caring and concerned captain who makes sure that everyone is doing okay and always puts the team first. He is also patient and understanding, but becomes "really scary" when angry or when his patience gets tested. He is well-respected and also feared by his teammates. During the match against Johzenji High, Takinoue notices how Daichi is similar to Asahi in that neither of them seem like high schoolers (Asahi because of his appearance and Daichi because of his behavior).

However, he dismisses this thought after Yachi tells him about how Daichi recently got in trouble for accidentally setting off the emergency bell while struggling with the boys' basketball team's captain during the lunchtime rush. Daichi's weapon isn't his attack, but his solid receive. As a result, he can be considered a defensive specialist. In other words, he's skillful and excels at defense. He, along with Nishinoya, are often the ones tasked with handling difficult receives (such as Oikawa's serve), or covering for other teammate's mistakes as a solid anchor, something Johzenji High lacks. He also commands formation shifts to cover for Johzenji's attacks, and leaving them vulnerable at the frontline. After the Summer Training Arc, he improved his solid receive, flying fall receive, and soft block. He also says that he feels like he can see the opposing spiker's movements more clearly than before. Adding onto that, it's shown (in a flashback) that he can use the opposing spiker's form to read the spiker's course.

Tobio Kageyama

Tobio Kageyama is a first year at Karasuno High School; he is the regular setter of the Karasuno High Boys' Volleyball Club and plays a critical role as the deuteragonist of the Haikyū!! series. Initially, he was referred to as the "King of the Court," a derogatory nickname that insinuates his autocratic nature, given to him by his former teammates at Kitagawa Daiichi during his late junior high school days.

Kageyama is also widely regarded as a stunning prodigy and an absolute genius by many of the prefecture's players and coaches. After joining Karasuno, he manages to change his attitude for the better with the help of his new teammates and 'rediscover' what it means to be a part of a team. Currently, he has been chosen to train at the all Japan youth training camp and there's a strong possibility that he will become part of Japan's national volleyball team in the future. Kageyama's height and impressively sharp glare are said to be his most prominent physical characteristics. He often emits an intimidating aura, which is heightened by the almost permanent scowl on his face. His hair is black and cropped short, with a fringe that hangs just above his dark blue eyes. His typical attire consists of either his school uniform or practice clothes. Perpetually sullen and undeniably short-tempered, Kageyama originally came off as a typical overbearing perfectionist, caring only about winning and completely disregarding the opinions and well-being of his teammates. His habit of complaining about their performance and barking orders at them eventually led the other players in Kitagawa Daiichi to nickname him the "King of the Court"–a constant reminder of the oppressive, egocentric attitude he demonstrated during his volleyball career in junior high.

Unbeknownst to the majority of his schoolmates and acquaintances, however, he is actually much more sensitive and childish than he appears to be; he simply does not know how to control his frustration, and hence expresses his thoughts and emotions in an inappropriate way. After everyone in Kitagawa Daiichi became fed up with him and abandoned his side, Kageyama was filled with genuine regret and developed an intense fear of being despised and mistrusted, but refused to openly discuss his problem until Tsukishima confronted him about it. Despite his inability to properly socialize, he sincerely wishes to do his best and is extremely passionate and dedicated when it comes to volleyball, to the point where he gets overly excited about nearly every successful move he pulls off with Hinata. Since joining Karasuno, he has grown to be more respectful of his upperclassmen (Sugawara and Asahi in particular), as well as more accepting of people whose abilities and/or views differ from his own (like Tsukishima), and has come to once again understand the importance of teamwork and mutual trust in the sport he treasures so much. Additionally, this has also helped him regain his confidence as a setter. He has also realized that he doesn't call the shots, and gives up control to Hinata and other spikers. As a setter, Kageyama has the potential to unify the team with his overwhelming talent, but hasn't learned how to exploit that to everyone's full advantage yet. He has a remarkable grasp of both the basics and the complexities of volleyball and, in addition to his astounding accuracy and technical skills as a setter, is a skilled spiker, blocker, and receiver.

Shōyō Hinata

Shōyō Hinata  is the main protagonist of the Haikyū!! series by Haruichi Furudate. He is a first year student at Karasuno High and is one of the volleyball team's middle blockers. Hinata's dream is to become strong enough to spike past tall blockers, just like the Small Giant once did. However, since he lacks height for a middle blocker, he specializes in jumping to compensate. Hinata is 164.2 cm, making him the second shortest person on his team, next to Nishinoya.

He has unruly, orange hair and brown eyes. He has a relatively thin build and a short stature, characteristics which often leads him to be mistaken for a junior high student. Hinata typically attires in his Karasuno school uniform with a black jacket and black pants. Beneath his jacket is a beige or tan sweatshirt. In the first episode, he wore the green volleyball uniform from his junior high. After joining Karasuno's Volleyball Club, Hinata wears his volleyball uniform–a black jersey and black shorts with white and orange stripes on the sides. On the back of his jersey is his position number 10 (coincidentally, the same number that was worn by the Small Giant) and his school's name written in kanji. On court, he wears kneepads and white volleyball shoes with red stripes. Hinata is very exuberant, having a cheerful and energetic personality. He is a natural schmoozer, a quality that his teammates occasionally use to win someone over (Nishinoya, for example). Hinata is also very easily excited and often talks loudly; he is the loudest member after Nishinoya and Tanaka. His friendly personality allows him to befriend even the quietest of people effortlessly, such as Kenma from Nekoma High and Aone from Date Tech High.

However, despite his generally bubbly exterior, Hinata is also shown to have a serious attitude, particularly when it comes to volleyball. His intense love for the sport is demonstrated through his impressive display of tenacity that stems from his constant desire to improve his abilities. As stated by Sugawara, Hinata plays with great fortitude in the face of adversity and thus, doesn't give up easily during a match whether it's a practice match or a real match. Hinata can also exhibit a very intimidating face when people underestimate him. Despite that, Hinata gets scared easily, especially by larger and stronger opponents, prompting him to develop a habit of hiding behind the nearest teammate. However, he recovers quickly before confidently challenging the opponents. Hinata, like Kageyama, does poorly in school since he too is preoccupied with volleyball. He once told Sugawara that ever since he'd entered high school, he has never scored in the double digits on any of his tests. Hinata is often described as clumsy yet incredibly athletic. Before entering Karasuno High, he didn't know much about volleyball and would hit any spike he wanted, regardless of what type it was. However, with the help of his new teammates, he soon learned the fundamentals and techniques. Despite the training, Hinata would occasionally have his serves hit the net or have them received easily by opponents. He is not known as a powerful player, but rather one who utilizes speed and stamina to his advantage. However, above all, Hinata’s main assets are his fortitude and determination to win.

Sinon

Sinon (shinon) is the deuteragonist of the phantom bullet arc in the sword art online (series), and is a skilled vrmmo game player in «gun gale online», which she began playing based on the suggestion from her friend, shinkawa kyouji, in an attempt to overcome her trauma concerning guns. After the events of the phantom bullet arc, she began playing «alfheim online» as a cait sith archer, capable of hitting targets 200 meters away with a bow that should only be able to shoot arrows accurately at a maximum distance of 100 meters. Her real name is asada shino (asada shino).

Calm and cool are two words that best describe sinon's personality. In battle and most of the time in the game, she keeps a cool head that makes other female players admire her. However, sinon has a violent temper once angered, best seen with her interactions with kirito. It is actually said that kirito is the first one to make her extremely angry. Despite all this, sinon, while maybe hard to approach, is generally a friendly person and does not mind helping others.

Shino, however, can be a fragile-minded character. This is due to her childhood incident that involved her killing a robber. If someone were to act as if they were shooting her in real life shino would have a nervous breakdown and be on the verge of collapsing. People have used this to take advantage of shino before. Not only this, but the guilt of taking another's life haunts shino the same way killing laughing coffin members haunts kazuto. After the death gun incident, shino has made progress with handling her trauma, as she did not have any serious reactions to seeing a model gun when endou threatened to shoot her with one, and was even able to use it while feigning that she was not affected by it. Shino is shown to have an uncommonly kind heart. Not only was she willing to forgive shinkawa kyouji, but still cared for him as a friend to the extent that she resolved to visit him in prison to try and help, if not save him as a person. In alo, sinon is shown to be admired by the other female members of the party due to her cool attitude.

Asuna

Asuna (asuna) is the deuteragonist of the aincrad arc in the sword art online series, as well as the protagonist of the mother's rosario side story. Her real name is yuuki asuna (yūki asuna), and she is the daughter of the former ceo of rect inc. Asuna was one of the 10,000 players trapped in «sword art online» and was the sub-leader of the «knights of the blood» guild. her skills with the rapier had her earned her the nickname «the flash» (senkō). After returning to the real world, asuna transferred her sword art online avatar to alfheim online and began playing the game as an undine. Due to her tendency to charge into battle with a rapier despite being a healer, she has earned the nickname «berserk healer» (bāsaku hīrā). asuna has also created an alternative avatar, the sylph «erika» (erika), as she sometimes wanted to change her appearance.

Asuna originally did not care about dying in the game before meeting kirito. That meeting drastically changed asuna's personality and outlook on life. She soon takes most things kirito says to heart and looks to him for help, using him as somewhat of a lifeline. She acts as a tsundere towards him for most of volume 1, even when married. Asuna is a kind and helpful young woman who, similar to kirito, cannot abandon another in trouble. She takes the game very seriously and is determined to clear it before kirito tells her to enjoy sao a bit.

Asuna is also somewhat proud and despite her kind personality, she will not hesitate to get physical with those that challenge her authority or make fun of her abilities, such as cooking. She even challenged kirito to a duel after an argument over how to handle a field boss. She is not afraid to act out on her own and will take matters in her own hands from time to time. Asuna, once again similar to kirito, is someone who can be controlled and manipulated using her emotions. This is best shown in moments such as during kirito's final duel with heathcliff on the 75th floor when she resisted her paralysis, jumped in front of kirito, and took an attack that would have otherwise killed him. She also cannot handle seeing others die in front of her, such as when she recklessly attacked the gleam eyes after seeing the liberation army players getting slaughtered. In alo, after being saved by kirito, asuna's personality had not changed a bit except that she was not as proud as she was in sao. Her personality began to develop further still after meeting yuuki in the events of mother's rosario. Seeing how yuuki still moves forward, despite knowing her death is inevitable, asuna takes after her and resolves to keep moving forward, no matter what happens.

Kirito

Kirito (kirito) is the main protagonist of the sword art online light novel, anime, manga and game series. His name, kirito, was taken from his real name kirigaya kazuto (kirigaya kazuto). "Kiri--" from kirigaya and "----to" from kazuto. He was chosen as one of the 1,000 beta testers for the closed beta of «sword art online», the first ever vrmmorpg for the nervegear.

Kirito is someone who is not good with words, as said by klein, and can be quite direct. This is due to him not having many friends and closing others off because of his love for computers. As such, he can come off as a rude person to others, such as lisbeth and sinon. Sometimes, he actually seems to enjoy angering and teasing people as well. Also, from time to time, kirito can be quite overconfident thinking he can do things others can not. He is almost always a calm and collected character, rarely showing any signs of distress. When kayaba akihiko appeared in sao and announced that it had become a death game, kirito showed only a slight reaction and was able to quickly accept the new conditions of the game, while many others panicked. He has shown different moods throughout the series; at times being rather cheerful, while being gloomy at others. When in a battle, he becomes incredibly fierce and aggressive. Sometimes, his fierceness is up to the point where he loses control of himself and is even unable to recall what he had done.

However, kirito is actually a kind person who is just misunderstood. Despite the general population opinion towards beta testers in sao, he refused to abandon another player in trouble. This is only strengthened after the demise of the moonlit black cats. He also comforts others who are scared or down such as silica after she lost pina. He claims to help some female players in sao because they remind him of his sister, whom he feels to have forced into kendo and feels guilty for that. These kind of acts have earned him respect and affection from many girls. Kirito, unlike usual male heroes, is not very dense as he was able to tell that lisbeth was going to confess to him before asuna interrupted them. Kirito is also a very emotional person and lets his emotions control him from time to time. The deaths of sachi and moonlit black cats had haunted him until his marriage with asuna in sword art online. Sachi's death in particular had a huge effect on his personality and motives, making him very distant from others for a while. This worries his friends and allies as kirito is someone who would let guilt ruin his life if not comforted. Kirito temporarily loses his will to live when asuna's character was killed by heathcliff. He also tries to hide his abilities, not wanting unneeded attention. Kirito is a person with incredibly strong resolve who will do anything and everything in his power to accomplish something that is important to him without any hesitation. When asuna was being held in alfheim, kirito was bound and determined to set her free and, when yui confirmed that she detected asuna being at the top of yggdrasil, he immediately tried to fly up to the tree, which had already been found to be an impossible task, and tried to fight his way to the top by himself twice despite being annihilated the first time. After escaping sao, kirito attempts to repair his relationship with suguha, his cousin. This shows kirito is now attempting to make up for his past mistake of ignoring her, showing a sense of maturity. Kirito, later in the series, is shown to be a calm and mature player who can be teasing as well.
